군에 따르면, 지난 11월 30일 기준 군 인구는 9만 3593명으로, 전년 대비 2357명이 증가했다. 이는 인구 증가율 2.58%로, 충청북도 11개 시·군 가운데 1위에 해당하는 기록이다.
현재 충북도 내에서 인구가 증가한 지역은 청주시(3114명), 음성군(2357명), 옥천군(205명) 3곳이며, 나머지 시군은 감소세를 보였다. 특히 군 단위 지자체 중 2천 명 이상의 인구가 늘어난 곳은 음성군이 유일하다.
