【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구행복진흥원(이사장 배기철) 산하 정신요양시설 아름마을이 생활인들의 문화예술 활동 성과를 알리는 사진전 ‘아름다운 사진여행’을 대구예아람학교 아람갤러리에서 개최했다.
이번 전시에서는 지난 3년간 아름마을 생활인들이 직접 촬영한 작품 31점이 선보여, 약 50여 명의 시설 생활인과 지역주민이 전시장을 찾아 작품을 감상하며 교류했다.
‘아름다운 사진여행’은 2023년부터 운영된 문화·여가 프로그램의 일환으로, 생활인들이 지역 내 명소인 간송미술관, 코오롱 야외음악당, 사문진 나루터 등을 방문해 직접 사진을 촬영했다. 참여자들은 자연과 지역사회를 직접 경험하며, 사진을 통해 각자의 시선과 감정을 작품에 담았다.
이번 사진전은 단순한 작품 전시에 그치지 않고, 정신장애인에 대한 인식 개선과 지역사회 소통이라는 의미 있는 역할을 했다는 평가를 받았다. 관람객들은 “사진을 통해 정신장애인을 다시 보게 됐다”, “작품마다 이야기와 감정이 담겨 있어 깊은 인상을 받았다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
행사 현장에서는 생활인과 지역주민이 직접 만나 작품을 나누고 응원의 메시지를 주고받으며 소통하는 모습도 눈에 띄었다. 이는 문화예술 활동을 매개로 시설 생활인과 지역사회가 자연스럽게 어우러지고, 정신장애인의 자아존중감 증진과 지역사회 경험 확대에도 긍정적 영향을 미친 것으로 평가된다.
배기철 대구행복진흥원 이사장은 “이번 사진전은 정신질환을 가진 생활인들이 주체가 되어 자신의 작품을 지역사회에 소개하는 뜻깊은 자리였다”며, “앞으로도 문화·예술 프로그램을 통해 산하 시설 생활인과 지역사회가 지속적으로 소통할 수 있도록 노력해, 정신장애인에 대한 인식 개선과 공감 확산에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.

Arum Village, a mental health facility under the Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency (Chairman Bae Ki-cheol), held a photo exhibition titled "Beautiful Photo Journey" at the Aram Gallery at Daegu Yearam School to showcase the cultural and artistic achievements of its residents.

This photo exhibition went beyond simply displaying artwork; it was recognized for its meaningful role in raising awareness of people with mental disabilities and fostering community communication. Visitors commented, "Through the photographs, I was able to see people with mental disabilities in a new light," and "I was deeply moved by the stories and emotions contained in each piece."
At the event, residents and local residents met in person, sharing artwork and exchanging messages of support. This interaction was evident in the cultural and artistic activities that fostered a natural connection between residents and the community, and it was evaluated to have had a positive impact on enhancing the self-esteem of people with mental disabilities and broadening their community experiences.
Bae Ki-cheol, Chairman of the Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency, stated, "This photo exhibition was a meaningful opportunity for people with mental illness to take the initiative and share their work with the community." He added, "We will continue to strive to foster continued communication between residents of our facilities and the community through cultural and artistic programs, striving to improve awareness and foster empathy for people with mental disabilities."
