관광 분야에서는 관광객 6,000만 명 시대를 목표로 신라왕경 핵심유적 정비와 문무대왕릉 성역화 사업을 추진하고, 제2동궁원 라원 조성 등 체류형 관광 기반 확충에 나선다.
역사·문화 자산을 정비하는 한편, 머무르는 관광 구조로 전환해 관광 소비와 지역 경제 파급 효과를 높인다는 구상이다.
산업 분야에서는 e-모빌리티 연구단지를 중심으로 미래차 첨단소재 성형가공센터와 탄소소재 부품 리사이클링센터, 공유배터리 안전연구센터 등 3대 연구시설을 운영하며, 미래차 편의·안전 기술 연구센터 유치도 추진한다.
연구와 실증, 산업화로 이어지는 미래차 산업 생태계를 구축해 지역 산업 구조를 고도화한다는 방침이다.
도시 분야에서는 옛 경주역사 부지를 뉴타운으로 개발하고, 경주역세권을 투자선도지구로 조성해 도시의 중심축을 재편할 계획이다.
아울러 동남권 광역전철망과 수소트램 도입을 통해 광역 교통망을 확충하고, 도시 접근성과 생활 편의성도 단계적으로 개선해 나갈 예정이다.
