<브레이크뉴스 평창= 김일웅 기자>평창군은 국가를 위해 헌신한 국가보훈대상자들의 명예를 선양하고 안정적인 생활을 지원하기 위해 2026년부터 보훈 관련 수당을 대폭 인상한다고 밝혔다.
이번 수당 인상은 ‘보훈 영예 수당’과 ‘참전유공자 배우자 수당’을 대상으로 한다. 보훈 영예 수당은 기존 월 25만 원에서 30만 원으로 5만 원 인상되며, 상대적으로 지원이 적었던 참전유공자 배우자 수당은 월 5만 원에서 20만 원으로 15만 원 대폭 상향된다.
평창군은 보훈 가족에 대한 실질적인 예우 강화를 위해 지난해 12월 「평창군 국가보훈대상자 예우 및 지원에 관한 조례」를 개정해 제도적 기반을 마련했으며, 2026년도 관련 예산으로 총 28억 원을 확보했다.
이와 함께 강원특별자치도에서 지급하는 보훈 명예 수당과 참전 명예 수당(각 월 6만 원)도 기존과 같이 병행 지원돼 평창군 보훈 대상자들의 경제적 혜택은 더욱 확대될 전망이다.
아울러 평창군은 2025년 1억 1,500만 원의 사업비를 투입해 현충탑 노후 불꽃 조형물 재설치와 참전 기념탑 등 보훈 시설 주변 정비 사업을 추진하며, 현충 시설의 상징성과 보훈 가치를 한층 강화했다.
또한 보훈 복지 사각지대 해소를 위해 매년 2회 강원동부보훈지청과 연계한 전수조사를 실시해 수당 미수급 대상자가 없도록 관리하는 등 촘촘한 보훈 안전망 구축에 힘쓰고 있다.
