이번 할인판매는 총 230억 원 규모로, 9% 할인율이 적용된다. 시는 연초부터 선제적인 소비 진작 정책을 가동해 침체된 민생경제에 활력을 불어넣고, 골목상권과 전통시장 중심의 지역 소비를 촉진한다는 방침이다.
포항시는 올해 포항사랑상품권 발행 규모를 지난해보다 500억 원 늘린 3,500억 원으로 확대했다. 매월 상시적으로 포항사랑카드를 9% 할인 판매하고, 설·추석 등 명절에는 카드형과 지류형 상품권을 10% 특별 할인 판매할 계획이다. 이는 지난해 상반기 7%였던 상시 할인율보다 2%포인트 상향된 수준이다.
보다 많은 시민에게 혜택이 돌아가도록 개인 구매한도는 기존 50만 원에서 40만 원으로 조정했으며, 개인별 보유한도는 70만 원으로 유지된다.

한편 포항시는 지난해까지 누적 2조 5,886억 원 규모의 포항사랑상품권을 발행해 지역 자금의 역외 유출을 막고 지역경제 선순환 구조를 구축하는 데 기여해 왔다.
