파주시가 운정중앙역 주변의 보행자 안전 확보를 위해 공유 이동장치 지정주차제를 본격 도입한다.
시는 12일 운정중앙역 상부와 인근 보행로를 대상으로 공유 이동장치 지정주차제를 시행한다고 밝혔다.
이번 조치는 무분별하게 방치된 공유 이동장치로 인한 보행 불편과 안전사고를 예방하기 위한 것이다.

그동안 파주시는 공유 이동장치 대여업체들과의 간담회를 통해 운정중앙역 상부의 방치 문제를 지속적으로 논의해 왔다.
보행자 통행량이 많은 역사 상부와 주변 보행로에서 발생할 수 있는 안전사고에 대한 우려가 제기되면서 이번 대책 마련에 나섰다.
시는 지정주차제 운영을 위해 기존 운정중앙역 상부에 설치됐던 주차구역 2개소를 철거하고, 역 인근에 신규 주차구역 7개소를 새롭게 설치했다.
이를 통해 이용자들이 기기를 편리하게 반납할 수 있는 공간을 확보했다.
운영 초기인 1월에는 홍보 및 계도기간으로 운영해 시민들의 제도 인지도를 높일 계획이다.
이후 2월부터는 신규 설치된 지정주차구역 외 장소에 반납된 공유 이동장치에 대해 즉시 견인 조치를 시행해 정책의 실효성을 확보한다는 방침이다.
조춘동 도로교통국장은 "운정중앙역 일대는 보행자 통행이 많은 지역으로, 공유 이동장치의 무질서한 방치는 안전사고로 이어질 우려가 크다"며 "이용자와 대여업체의 적극적인 협조를 통해 안전하고 질서 있는 보행 환경을 조성해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
