이재명 대통령이 12일 국내 종교 지도자들과 만나 "국민들이 서로 화합하고 포용적 입장서 함께 손잡고 살아갈 수 있도록 지금까지도 많은 역할을 해주셨지만 앞으로도 더 큰 역할 부탁드린다"고 요청했다.
이 대통령은 이날 낮 청와대에서 '종교와 함께 국민통합의 길로' 주제로 열린 종교 지도자 오찬 간담회에서 "대통령이 해야 될 제일 중요한 일이 국민둘 통합시키는 거라 하는데 노력하고 있으나 한계가 많다"며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "사회가 많은 사람들이 느끼는 것처럼 갈등·혐오·증오가 많이 늘어나는 것 같다"며 "대한민국이 지금까지완 달리 서로 화합·용서·포용하면서 같이 살 수 있는 사회로 나아갈 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 했다.
한국종교지도자협의회 공동대표의장 진우스님은 "국가 안보만큼 중요한 게 바로 국민 마음 안보라고 생각하며 세계 최고수준 자살률·초저출산·고령화·낮은 행복지수란 구조적 문제를 안고 있다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "국민 마음이 깊이 지쳐있다는 신호며 이를 해결 못한다면 물질·경제적 성취만으로 진정한 선진국이라 말하기 어려울 것 같다"며 "앞으로도 국민 마음 평안, 국민 마음 안보의 공동 과제를 놓고 지속 협력해나가길 기대한다"고 덧붙였다.
