【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=안승대 포항시장 출마예정자가 해병대 회관을 포항에 유치하는 방안을 추진하겠다고 밝혔다. 다만 구체적인 부지 선정은 해병대와 오천 주민을 포함한 포항 시민들의 의견을 수렴해 결정하겠다는 입장이다.

또 오천 해병대 전차대대 부지에는 로봇·방위산업특구를 조성하는 계획도 함께 제시됐다. 인근 광명산단에 조성 중인 AI 데이터센터와 연계해 첨단 국방산업의 거점으로 육성하겠다는 구상이다.
이 특구는 포스코의 철강 소재 산업을 기반으로 울산·경주의 제조업 및 부품 공급망, 대구·경북의 로봇·첨단 산업 생태계와 연계해 국가 전략적 방산 클러스터로 발전시키는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 통해 AI 데이터센터 등 미래 산업과 결합한 포항 대표 혁신 산업단지로 성장시킨다는 계획이다.
아울러 자동차·조선·비철금속 등 울산 지역의 철강 기반 기업들을 블루밸리 국가산업단지 등 인근 지역에 유치해 산업 집적 효과를 높이겠다는 구상도 내놨다.
해병대 회관 유치와 관련해 안 출마예정자 측은 “해병대와 역사를 함께해 온 포항에 반드시 필요한 시설”이라면서도 “포항 내 구체적인 부지에 대해서는 그간 누적된 주민 피해와 지역 정서를 충분히 고려할 필요가 있다”고 밝혔다. 이에 따라 향후 해병대와 국방부, 오천 주민을 포함한 포항 시민들의 의견을 폭넓게 수렴해 최종 부지를 결정할 계획이라고 설명했다.

Regarding the Marine Corps Hall project, Ahn's camp stated, "This is a necessary facility for Pohang, a city with a long history with the Marine Corps." However, they added, "The specific site within Pohang needs to be carefully considered, considering the accumulated damage to residents and local sentiment." Accordingly, they plan to gather feedback from the Marine Corps, the Ministry of National Defense, and Pohang citizens, including Ocheon residents, before making a final decision on the site.
