14일 낮 12시 23분께 전북대학교 대학원생 연구동 한 건물에서 불길이 치솟아 연구실 일부(30㎡)가 그을렸고 노트북과 에어컨ㆍ책상 등 내부 집기 비품이 소실돼 소방서 추산 500여 만 원 상당의 재산피해가 발생했다.
이날 화재로 다행히 인명피해는 확인되지 않았다.
화재 당시 대학교 시설팀이 소화기로 자체 진화했으며 신고를 받고 출동한 소방대가 옥내 소화전으로 잔불을 정리했다.
