충남 서산시가 국내 최초의 국가해양생태공원으로 지정된 가로림만을 앞세워 글로벌 해양 생태관광의 중심지로 거듭나겠다는 포부를 밝혔다.
이완섭 서산시장은 14일 팔봉면 행정복지센터에서 열린 ‘면민과의 대화’에 참석해, 가로림만의 생태적 가치를 극대화하고 이를 지역 발전의 핵심 축으로 삼겠다는 구상을 공유했다. 이날 행사에는 팔봉면민 150여 명이 참석해 가로림만 세계자연유산 등재 등 지역 현안에 대해 뜨거운 관심을 보였다.

이완섭 시장은 주민들의 제안을 경청한 뒤 “가로림만의 천혜 자원을 잘 보존하면서도, 전 세계인이 찾고 싶은 명소로 만드는 것이 우리의 목표”라며 “팔봉면민들의 고향 사랑이 담긴 소중한 의견들을 시정에 적극 반영해 사업을 차질 없이 추진하겠다”고 약속했다.
