노 회장은 이날 강원특별자치도 강릉시 주문진읍에서 열린 강릉어선안전조업국 신청사 이전식 기념사를 통해 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 “강릉어선안전조업국은 기상 변화가 잦고 조업 여건이 까다로운 동해안 해역에서 어선들의 안전조업을 지원해 온 핵심 기관”이라며 “이번에 새롭게 이전한 조업국은 최신 통신설비와 상황관제 시스템, 스마트 안전체험관을 갖춘 동해안 어선 안전관리의 중심 거점이 될 것”이라고 말했다.
앞서 노 회장은 어선 사고로 인한 인명 피해를 단계적으로 줄이겠다는 목표 아래 ‘어선 안전 희망 선포식’을 열고, 안전한 바다 실현을 다짐하며 새해 첫 업무를 시작한 바 있다. 전국 어업인의 ‘무사안녕’을 올해 최우선 과제로 삼겠다는 신년사에서 밝힌 핵심 경영가치인 ‘안전’을 이날 다시 한번 강조한 것이다.

수협중앙회는 이번 강릉어선안전조업국 확장 이전을 계기로 어업 현장의 안전관리 체계 구축을 강화하고, 현장 중심의 실효성 있는 안전조업 교육을 확대해 어업인의 생명과 재산 보호에 만전을 기할 방침이다.
