[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 종이신문으로만 보존돼 온 옛 진주시보 ‘촉석루’를 전자책으로 제작해 시청 누리집을 통해 공개해 지역 기록의 디지털 아카이브 구축에 나섰다.
이번 전자책 제작은 훼손과 분실 우려가 있던 종이 자료를 디지털 콘텐츠로 전환해 시민 누구나 시간과 장소의 제약 없이 열람할 수 있도록 한 것이 특징이다.
전자책 촉석루는 지난 1996년부터 2005년까지 진주의 주요 정책과 도시 변화, 시민 생활상이 담겨 지역사 연구 자료로 가치가 높다.
시보는 도시 발전 과정과 생활 밀착형 행정, 문화·사회적 이슈를 담은 이번 전자책은 현재의 진주를 이해하는 공공 기록물로 활용 가치가 크다.
