22일 가평군에 따르면, 청평암은 최근 군청 대회의실에서 열린 ‘꽃나무 울타리 장학회’ 장학금 전달식을 통해 관내 저소득층 중·고등학생 20명에게 총 1,000만 원의 장학금과 장학증서를 수여했다.
이번 전달식에서 장학금을 받은 학생들은 1인당 50만 원의 지원을 받게 된다. 특히 청평암 주지 구암 스님은 전달식 내내 학생 한 명 한 명의 손을 맞잡고 따뜻한 격려의 말을 건네며, 학업에 정진할 수 있도록 용기를 북돋워 주어 현장을 훈훈하게 했다.
구암 스님은 “밝은 미래를 설계하며 성장하는 우리 학생들에게 작은 보탬이라도 되고 싶은 마음”이라며 “이번 장학금이 학생들이 희망을 잃지 않고 학업에 전념할 수 있는 든든한 버팀목이 되길 바란다”고 전했다.
