[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원의 중학생들이 미국 플로리다주 잭슨빌시에서 보낸 15박 18일간의 특별한 여정을 마치고, 23일 인천공항을 통해 귀국했다. 이번 방문은 창원특례시와 잭슨빌시가 수십 년간 쌓아온 국제 친선의 결실을 청소년들이 직접 확인하고 체험하는 자리였다.
지난 6일 잭슨빌에 도착한 11명의 창원 청소년 교류단은 도착과 동시에 현지 가정으로 흩어졌다. 지난해 7월 창원을 방문해 한국의 정을 배우고 간 잭슨빌 학생들의 가정에서 이번에는 우리 학생들이 손님으로 맞이하는 '답방' 형식이었다.
학생들은 줄리아 랜던 중학교(Julia Landon Middle School) 등 현지 3개 명문 학교에 등교해 현지 학생들과 똑같이 정규 수업을 듣고 방과 후 활동에 참여했다.
