브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당이 고(故) 이해찬 전 국무총리의 별세를 애도하며 이번 주를 공식 추모 기간으로 지정했다.
민주당은 이 기간 동안 최소한의 당무만 처리하고, 정쟁을 자제하는 한편 기존 현수막을 철거하고 추모 현수막을 게시하기로 했다.
정청래 대표는 26일 국회에서 열린 최고위원회의에서 "민주화의 새벽을 열고 민주당의 뿌리가 돼 주신 이 시대의 큰 어른을 잃었다"며 "고인의 육신은 우리 곁을 떠났지만 그 정신은 우리 사회와 민주당 안에 널리 이어질 것"이라고 추모했다.
한병도 원내대표도 "이해찬이 걸어온 민주주의의 여정을 결코 잊지 않겠다"며 "이 전 총리는 국민과 희로애락을 함께하며 김대중·노무현·문재인·이재명 정부까지 네 차례의 민주정권 출범에 앞장섰다"고 밝혔다. 이어 "그 뜻을 이어 민주당이 민주주의를 지켜내고 국가를 정상화하며, 국민으로부터 더 사랑받는 정당이 되도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다.

또한 민주당 지도부는 오는 27일 베트남에서 출발해 인천국제공항으로 도착하는 고인의 시신을 직접 맞이할 예정이다. 빈소가 마련되는 대로 상주하며 조문객도 맡는다.
민주당은 아울러 추모 기간 동안 각 시도당에 빈소를 설치하고, 전국 지역위원회에 추모 현수막을 게시하도록 지시했다. 기존 게시한 모든 현수막은 철거하기로 했다.
