경주시는 올해부터 동·하계방학을 합쳐 총 90일 동안 초등학교 1~3학년을 대상으로 방학 돌봄 서비스를 운영하고, 어린이집 급·간식비 지원 단가를 인상한다고 27일 밝혔다.
방학 돌봄은 어린이집의 유휴 공간과 인력을 활용한 ‘우리동네 초등방학 돌봄터’ 형태로 운영된다. 돌봄터는 방학 기간 중 평일 오전 7시 30분부터 오후 7시까지 운영돼 맞벌이 가정의 돌봄 공백을 최소화할 예정이다.
올해 돌봄터는 지역 내 어린이집 4곳에서 운영되며, 총사업비는 5,600만 원이다. 어린이집 1곳당 1,400만 원의 운영비가 지원되며, 보조금은 실제 이용 아동 수를 기준으로 정산된다.
경주시는 이번 사업을 통해 방학 기간 돌봄에 대한 학부모의 걱정을 덜고, 아이들이 보다 안전하고 안정적인 환경에서 방학을 보낼 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
이와 함께 어린이집 급·간식비 지원도 확대된다. 어린이집 재원 아동 1인당 급·간식비 지원액은 지난해 월 2만 2,000원에서 올해 월 2만 6,000원으로 4,000원 인상된다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “방학 때마다 반복되는 돌봄 공백과 보육 부담을 줄이는 데 정책의 초점을 맞췄다”며 “앞으로도 부모들이 실제로 체감할 수 있는 보육·돌봄 지원을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
