파주시가 다문화 가족 밀집 지역인 광탄면의 돌봄 사각지대 해소를 위해 신산초등학교에 다문화 특화 다함께돌봄센터를 조성하고 오는 3월부터 본격 운영에 들어간다.
광탄면 신산초등학교는 전체 학생 중 다문화 학생 비율이 약 35%에 달해 맞춤형 교육과 돌봄 지원의 필요성이 꾸준히 제기돼 왔다.
지난해 광탄면 이동시장실에서 주민들의 다함께돌봄센터 설치 요구가 이어지면서 시는 지역 수요를 반영한 특화 센터 조성에 착수했다.

이번에 문을 여는 다함께돌봄센터는 신산초 별관 3층 유휴교실 3실을 활용한 시설로, 파주시 최초로 학교 내에 설치되는 다함께돌봄센터다.
다문화 아동의 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 프로그램을 통해 안정적인 지역 돌봄 체계를 구축하는 것이 목표다.
파주시는 지난해 12월 위탁 운영기관 선정을 마치고, 오는 3월부터 만 6세에서 12세까지 초등학생 25명 내외를 대상으로 운영을 시작한다.
한글 및 이중언어 교육, 문화 적응 프로그램 등 다문화 특화 교육과 돌봄 서비스를 함께 제공할 예정이다.
특히 기존 학교 돌봄교실과의 연계를 통해 효율적인 돌봄 체계를 마련했다.
학교 돌봄교실은 저학년(1~2학년) 위주로 우선 배정하고, 다함께돌봄센터는 고학년(3~6학년) 및 학교 돌봄교실 초과 수요 아동을 중심으로 운영해 돌봄 대상 중복을 방지하고 사각지대를 최소화한다는 방침이다.
이번 다문화 특화 센터는 지난해 11월 개소한 교하도서관 내 책문화특화 늘봄거점센터에 이어 지역 특성을 반영한 파주형 돌봄 모델의 또 하나의 사례가 될 전망이다.
파주시 관계자는 "다문화 특화 다함께돌봄센터는 북파주 구도심 지역의 돌봄 공백을 해소하고, 다문화 아동의 건강한 성장을 지원하는 핵심 거점이 될 것"이라며 "앞으로도 책임돌봄을 한층 더 강화해 삶이 행복한 가족도시 파주를 구현해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
