<브레이크뉴스 포천=이용하 기자> 포천시가 어르신들의 활기찬 노후와 평생학습 기회 확대를 위해 운영하는 ‘2026년 은빛아카데미’가 힘찬 첫발을 내디뎠다.
27일 포천시에 따르면, 시는 지난 26일 화현면 화현2리 경로당에서 백영현 포천시장이 참석한 가운데 ‘2026년 은빛아카데미 개강식’을 개최하고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.
‘은빛아카데미’는 지난 2008년부터 이어져 온 포천시의 대표적인 장수 노인 평생교육 프로그램이다. 거동이 불편해 학습 기회를 갖기 어려운 어르신들을 위해 전문 강사가 관내 경로당을 직접 찾아가 교육을 진행하는 방식이다.

특히 올해는 현장의 뜨거운 호응을 반영해 운영 규모를 대폭 키웠다. 시는 지난해 60개소였던 운영 경로당을 올해 80개소로 20곳이나 늘려, 더 많은 어르신이 집 근처에서 배움의 즐거움을 누릴 수 있도록 했다.
교육 과정은 총 12주간 진행되며, 어르신들의 신체적·정서적 특성을 고려한 ▲건강체조 ▲실버놀이 ▲힐링원예 등 참여형 프로그램으로 알차게 구성됐다. 이를 통해 어르신들의 사회적 고립감을 해소하고 건강한 여가 문화를 조성하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
이날 개강식에 참석한 백영현 시장은 어르신들과 일일이 인사를 나누며 “배움에는 나이가 없다는 것을 몸소 보여주시는 어르신들의 열정에 존경을 표한다”며, “어르신들이 건강하고 행복한 노후를 보낼 수 있도록 맞춤형 평생교육 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
