2025 APEC 경주 정상회의의 성과를 지역사회와 세계로 확산하기 위한 POST-APEC 연계 외국인 유학생 자원봉사 프로그램이 지난 1월 23일부터 24일까지 이틀간 경주 일원에서 성공적으로 마무리됐다.

경주APEC글로벌서포터즈사업단이 주관하고 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스 국제교류처와 (사)영토지킴이독도사랑회가 공동 참여한 이번 행사는 APEC 자원봉사 경험이 있는 외국인 유학생과 한국 대학생들이 지역사회 봉사 및 역사 교육을 통해 글로벌 시민으로 성장하도록 돕기 위해 마련됐으며 행사에는 유학생과 한국 학생, 독도사랑회 관계자 등 총 50여 명이 참석했다.
행사 첫날인 23일 참가자들은 APEC 경주 정상회의가 열린 주요 시설인 HICO와 경주엑스포대공원을 견학하며 국제행사의 성과를 체험했으며 이어 지역 다문화 가정과 외국인 노동자를 위해 김치와 쌀, 라면 등 생필품을 나누는 봉사활동을 진행했다.
특히 지역 기업과 연계해 진행된 김장 체험은 외국인 유학생들에게 한국의 나눔 문화를 깊이 이해하게 하는 기회가 됐다.
둘째 날인 24일에는 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 한 독도 바로 알리기 교육이 이어졌다.
학생들은 한국 역사 속 독도의 의미를 배우는 이론 강의와 독도 에코백 그리기 등 체험 활동에 참여했으며 이를 통해 독도 문제를 단순한 영토 분쟁을 넘어 평화와 공존의 가치로 인식하는 시간을 가졌다.
봉사에 참여한 베트남 유학생 주티레융은 김장 봉사와 독도 체험을 통해 한국 문화와 영토의 중요성을 배운 것이 유학 생활 중 가장 기억에 남는 순간이 될 것 같다고 소감을 전했다.
학생 책임자인 동국대 참사랑봉사단 조태연 단장은 APEC이라는 국제행사가 일회성에 그치지 않고 봉사와 교육을 통해 지역과 세계를 잇는 지속 가능한 성과로 이어지는 것을 확인했다며 앞으로도 글로벌 봉사 모델을 확장하고 싶다고 밝혔다.
독도 교육을 진행한 길종성 (사)영토지킴이독도사랑회 중앙회장은 외국인 유학생들이 독도를 올바르게 이해하고 자국에 알리는 것이 가장 효과적인 홍보이며 이번 프로그램이 민간 공공 외교의 모범 사례가 될 것이라고 평가했다.
행사를 주관한 이유경 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 국제교류처장은 POST-APEC 프로그램은 국제행사의 성과를 지역과 사람에게 환원하는 과정이라며 경주가 글로벌 교류와 공존의 도시로 자리 잡는 데 대학과 학생들의 역할이 중요하다고 강조했다.

Gil Jong-seong, the president of the Dokdo Lovers Association, a non-profit organization that organized the Dokdo education, said that the most effective way to promote Dokdo is for international students to correctly understand and promote it to their own countries, and that this program will serve as a model for private-sector public diplomacy.
Lee Yu-gyeong, Director of the Office of International Affairs at Dongguk University's WISE Campus, who hosted the event, emphasized the crucial role of universities and students in establishing Gyeongju as a city of global exchange and coexistence, saying that the Post-APEC program is a process of returning the fruits of international events to the region and its people.
