[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 당도가 높고 과육이 단단하며 새콤달콤한 사천 특산물 '키위'가 일본 소비자들에게 좋은 반응을 얻고 있는 가운데 일본 수출이 증가하고 있다.
사천시는 지난 26일 삼천포농협 농산물유통센터에서 사천시 특산물 키위 일본 수출을 위한 선적식을 가졌다.
올해는 지난해보다 30톤이 증가한 총 50톤 규모의 키위를 일본으로 수출할 계획이다.
이번 행사에는 사천시농업기술센터, 농협조합공동법인, 삼천포농협, ㈜경남무역 관계자들과 삼천포농협 키위공선회 농가 등 20여명이 참석해 수출 개시를 축하했다.
이번에 수출하는 키위는 삼천포농협 키위공선회 소속 60여 농가가 재배한 헤이워드 품종으로 풍부한 일조량과 해풍을 맞고 자라 당도가 높고 과육이 단단하며 새콤달콤한 맛으로 일본 시장에서 꾸준한 수요를 이어가고 있다.
사천 키위의 지속적인 수출 경쟁력 강화를 위해 사천시와 삼천포농협은 수출 농가들을 대상으로 수출 농자재 지원과 재배관리 및 병해충방제 등의 기술지도를 실시하고 키위공선회는 공동선별을 통해 균일한 품질과 안정적인 수출물량을 확보할 계획이다.
이번 수출은 사천시 특산물 키위의 우수성을 해외에 알리고 농가 소득증대와 지역 농업 활성화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
사천시농업기술센터 김성일 소장은 "풍부한 무기질에 영양 높고 맛도 좋은 사천 키위가 일본 소비자들에게 좋은 반응을 얻고 있다"며 "이번 일본 수출을 계기로 사천시 특산 농산물의 해외 판로를 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
