하동말차, 새해 중남미 첫 선적..해외시장 공략 본격화

[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] (재)하동차&바이오진흥원(이하 진흥원)이 하동말차 중남미 수출 실적이 최근 지속적인 성장세를 보이고 있는 가운데 28일 맥시코를 대상으로 하동말차 수출 선적식을 개최했다.

이번 수출은 차광 가루녹차 1.8톤, 일반 가루녹차 3.6톤 등 총 5.4톤 규모다. 

이는 하동 녹차 가공품의 해외시장 경쟁력을 다시 한번 입증하는 성과로 평가된다.

수출량은 2022년 3.12톤에서 2025년 16.7톤으로 약 5.3배 증가했으며, 수출액 또한 같은 기간 5만 1천 달러에서 34만 7천 달러로 약 6.8배 확대되는 등 괄목할 만한 성과를 거두고 있다.

진흥원은 이러한 성과를 바탕으로 중남미 지역을 전략 수출시장으로 육성할 계획이며, 2026년에는 가루녹차를 20톤 이상 중남미 지역에 수출하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.

진흥원 관계자는 “이번 멕시코 수출은 하동 녹차의 품질과 경쟁력을 세계 시장에 다시 한번 알리는 계기가 됐다”며, “앞으로도 지속적인 품질관리와 해외 마케팅 강화를 통해 안정적인 수출 기반을 구축해 나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.

한편, 진흥원은 가공·유통·수출을 연계한 체계적인 지원을 통해 지역 차 산업 활성화와 농가 소득 증대에 기여하고 있으며, 앞으로도 다양한 해외시장 개척 사업을 지속 추진할 계획이다.

This achievement is considered a further demonstration of the competitiveness of Hadong green tea processed products in the overseas market.

Export volume increased approximately 5.3-fold from 3.12 tons in 2022 to 16.7 tons in 2025, and export value also increased approximately 6.8-fold from $51,000 to $347,000 during the same period, demonstrating remarkable results.

Building on these achievements, the KCA plans to foster Central and South America as a strategic export market, with a goal of exporting over 20 tons of powdered green tea to the region by 2026.
