파주시 운정2동 통장협의회가 지난 27일 관내 저소득 및 취약계층 청소년들을 위한 장학금 200만 원을 기탁했다.

이번 장학금은 운정2동 통장협의회 회원들이 지역 사회의 미래인 청소년들이 경제적인 어려움 속에서도 학업에 정진할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 십시일반 뜻을 모아 마련했으며 민관이 협력해 지역 청소년을 위한 사회안전망을 구축했다는 점에서 의미가 크다.
기탁된 성금은 경기사회복지공동모금회를 통해 운정2동 관내 취약계층 청소년 10명에게 각 20만 원씩 전달될 예정이며 운정2동은 지원이 시급한 학생들에게 혜택이 돌아갈 수 있도록 맞춤형 복지 상담과 대상자 발굴 과정을 거쳤다.
신영균 운정2동 통장협의회장은 어려운 환경에서도 꿈을 향해 나아가는 아이들에게 작게나마 힘이 되고 싶었다며 회원들의 정성이 아이들에게 용기가 되어 지역 사회를 빛낼 인재로 성장하길 바란다고 밝혔다.
정영옥 운정2동장은 주민을 위해 봉사하는 통장들이 인재 양성에도 앞장서 주어 감사하다며 복지 사각지대에 놓인 청소년을 적극 발굴하고 지원해 청소년이 행복한 마을을 만드는 데 행정적 노력을 아끼지 않겠다고 답했다.
