전북특별자치도가 독자적으로 개발계획을 수립해 29일 전국 최초로 금융위원회에 '금융중심지 지정 신청서'를 공식 제출했다.
국내 금융중심지는 서울 여의도(종합금융)와 부산 문현(해양ㆍ파생금융) 등 2곳 뿐으로 전북이 제3의 금융 거점으로 부상할 수 있을지 관심이 집중되고 있다.
금융중심지 개념은 다수의 금융 기관들이 자금의 조달ㆍ거래ㆍ운용 등 그 밖의 금융거래를 할 수 있는 국내 금융거래 및 국제 금융거래 중심지다.
전북 금융중심지 예정 구역은 혁신도시와 만성지구 일원 총 3.59㎢에 각 기능별로 세분화해 체계적으로 개발할 계획이다.
핵심 금융기관이 입주할 중심업무지구 0.14㎢ㆍ연관 산업과 지원 시설을 배치할 지원 업무지구 1.27㎢ㆍ금융 인력 정주 여건을 조성할 배후 주거지구 2.18㎢로 구분해 단계적으로 추진한다.
자산운용ㆍ농생명ㆍ기후에너지 등 전북의 강점 분야를 디지털 기술과 결합한 차별화된 금융 모델을 내세웠다.
