청와대가 30일 미국의 환율 관찰 대상국 한국 재지정 관련해 "외환 당국은 미 재무부와 긴밀히 소통하고 있고, 향후 소통을 지속할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
청와대는 이날 오전 언론 공지를 통해 "환율보고서에서 미 재무부는 최근 원화 약세가 한국 경제 펀더멘털에 부합하지 않다는 점을 재확인했다"며 이같이 전했다.
앞서 지난 29일(현지시간) 미 재무부는 한국·중국·일본·독일·싱가포르·베트남·대만·아일랜드·스위스·태국 등 10개국을 환율 관찰 대상국 명단에 올렸다.
한국 경우 지난 2016년 4월 이후 7년여 만인 지난 2023년 11월 환율 관찰 대상국에서 빠졌으나 트럼프 2기 행정부 출범 전인 2024년 11월 재차 환율 관찰 대상국에 포함된 바 있다.
한국은 지난 2025년 6월 발표된 보고서에서도 해당 지위가 유지된 가운데 이번에 재차 환율 관찰 대상국에 포함됐다.
