이번 기부는 민족의 대명절인 설을 앞두고 경제적 어려움을 겪고 있는 이웃들에게 따뜻한 위로와 실질적인 도움을 전하기 위해 마련됐다.
이경아 경기사회복지공동모금회 북부사업본부장은 “가족의 온기가 그리운 명절에 소외된 이웃들이 조금이나마 따뜻한 시간을 보내길 바라는 마음으로 기부를 준비했다”며, “앞으로도 나눔의 가치가 일상 속에 뿌리내릴 수 있도록 소외된 곳을 세심하게 살피며 지속적인 지원과 연대에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
이에 시 관계자는 “나눔을 실천해 준 경기북부 사랑의열매 측에 깊은 감사를 드린다”며, “민관 협력을 통한 복지행정을 더욱 강화해 시민 모두가 온기를 체감할 수 있는 따뜻한 의정부를 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 답했다.
한편, 의정부시는 현재 ‘100일간 사랑릴레이 배턴 잇기’ 모금 운동을 전개하고 있다. 지난해 11월 시작된 이 운동은 올해 2월 12일까지 이어지며, 모금된 성금과 물품은 관내 취약계층을 위해 소중히 사용될 예정이다.
