[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 굴뚝 산업의 상징이었던 창원특례시가 기후위기 대응을 새로운 성장 동력으로 삼기 위한 파격적인 행보에 나섰다. 창원시의회 ‘기후위기·그린뉴딜정책연구회’(대표의원 서명일)는 3일 간담회를 통해 ‘기후테크 산업 육성 전략’을 올해 상반기 핵심 연구과제로 확정했다.
기후(Climate)와 기술(Technology)이 결합된 ‘기후테크’는 온실가스 감축과 탈탄소 전환을 이끄는 모든 혁신 기술을 뜻한다. 연구회 소속 의원들(서명일, 권성현, 김묘정, 이원주, 전홍표)은 이번 간담회에서 "탄소중립이라는 거대한 구조적 변화는 피할 수 없는 흐름"이라며, 이를 창원의 산업 경쟁력을 높일 기회로 보았다.
