[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 고성군은 도시림의 체계적 관리와 생활권 내 피해목, 병해충 방제 등 정비를 위해 ‘녹지정비단’을 2월부터 10월까지 운영한다고 밝혔다.
이번 녹지정비단은 전년 대비 2명이 증원된 총 20명의 인원으로 구성됐으며 고성군 전역의 수목, 가로수, 동산, 공원 등을 대상으로 가로수 등의 지속적인 수형관리 및 민원처리를 통해 군민들에게 쾌적한 생활환경을 제공하는 데 중점을 둘 예정이다.
특히 최근 미세먼지, 폭염 등 기후변화에 따라 녹지공간의 중요성이 증대되는 만큼 군민들의 수목 정비 요구가 증가함에 따라 올해는 고성읍 중심의 전담반을 별도 편성했다.
이를 통해 고성읍 내 수목 및 가로수의 수형관리 등 맞춤형 녹지정비 활동을 보다 체계적으로 추진하고 군민들의 일상생활 편의 향상에 기여할 계획이다.
군 관계자는 “기존의 녹지정비단은 지방도, 군도, 농어촌 도로변 가로수와 외곽지역 정비작업에 집중해왔으나, 점차 늘어나는 도시 중심지의 정비수요에 대응하고자 이번에 고성읍 중심의 정비단을 별도로 증원하게 됐다”며 “이번 조치로 외곽지역은 물론 도시 중심지까지 더욱 체계적이고 효율적으로 녹지를 관리해 군민 모두에게 쾌적한 환경을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
군은 고성군산림조합과 협업해 고성읍 공룡동산을 책임구역제로 지정하고 전담 관리를 실시함으로써 녹지 관리의 전문성과 효율성을 높일 방침이다.
