[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 경남 밀양시는 이달부터 2026년 상반기 외국인 계절근로자 도입을 본격적으로 시작한다고 3일 밝혔다.
2월 한 달간 600여명이 우선 입국하며 상반기 내 총 1000여명의 외국인 계절근로자가 지역 농가에 배치될 예정이다.
김해공항과 인천공항을 통해 입국한 계절근로자들은 도착 직후 채용 신체검진과 마약 검사를 마친 뒤, 인권 침해 예방, 안전 수칙, 생활 안내 사항 등 분야별 입국 교육을 이수하게 된다.
이후 밀양시 전역 530호 농가에 배치돼 5개월에서 최대 8개월까지 체류하며 농번기 일손을 지원한다.
올해 입국 예정인 계절근로자는 유형별로 MOU 체결국 근로자 830명, 결혼이민자 가족 초청 근로자 160명, 공공형 계절근로자 10명으로 집계됐다.
특히 남밀양농협이 올해 시범 운영하는 공공형 계절근로자 사업은 상시 근로자 고용이 어려운 소규모 농가나 고령 농가의 인건비 부담을 완화하고 안정적인 인력 수급을 도모하기 위해 추진된다.
해당 사업은 계절근로자를 1일 단위로 고용할 수 있다는 장점이 있어 농가의 높은 호응이 기대된다.
2023년부터 4년째 외국인 계절근로자 사업을 운영해 온 밀양시는 올해 '상호 존중과 이해를 바탕으로 한 근로환경 조성'을 추진 방향으로 설정했다.
서로의 문화와 생활방식에 대한 이해를 기반으로 신뢰를 형성해 갈등은 줄이고 작업 효율을 높이겠다는 방침이다.
이에 따라 시는 올해 입국하는 계절근로자와 고용주를 대상으로 작업 현장에서 자주 사용하는 표현을 한국어-라오어로 번역한 '한국어 기본'자료를 배부할 예정이다.
