【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구광역시행복진흥사회서비스원이 올해 1월부터 대구어린이세상 운영을 공식적으로 맡으면서, 시설이 민간에서 공공 중심 체제로 전환됐다.
시는 이번 변화로 프로그램 전문성과 시설 관리 안정성을 높이고, 영유아부터 초등학생까지 연계되는 ‘대구형 어린이 서비스’ 체계 구축에 나섰다.
대구광역시행복진흥사회서비스원(이사장 배기철)은 2026년 1월부터 대구어린이세상 운영을 수탁해 공공 주도 체제를 본격화한다고 4일 밝혔다.
1983년 처음 문을 연 대구어린이세상(구 대구어린이회관)은 2023년 리모델링 이후 민간이 운영해왔으나, 올해 들어 운영권이 행복진흥원으로 넘어갔다.
행복진흥원은 이번 운영 전환을 계기로 공공성 강화와 운영 안정화에 우선순위를 두겠다고 강조했다. 또한 ‘와글와글 아이세상’ 등 기존 어린이 복지사업에서 쌓은 경험을 바탕으로, 영유아부터 초등학생까지 연령별로 연계되는 원스톱 어린이 서비스 모델을 만들 계획이다.
프로그램 측면에서는 공연과 교육 콘텐츠가 크게 강화된다. 꾀꼬리극장은 지역 공연단체와 예술인 대상 대관을 확대해 수준 높은 아동 공연을 상시 제공할 예정이며, 꿈누리관에는 가족 단위 체험과 교육을 접목한 새로운 패키지 프로그램을 선보인다. 또 숲 체험, 미술·과학·바이올린·체육 프로그램에 더해 오감놀이 등 다양한 신규 강좌를 마련해 연령별 맞춤 교육 선택권을 넓힌다.
시설과 환경 관리도 꼼꼼하게 챙긴다. 야외 조경 관리는 기존 연 2회에서 연 4회로 늘리고, 안정적인 시설 개선과 환경 정비를 목표로 추가 예산 확보에도 나선다. 장기적인 시설 보수와 환경 개선 역시 공공 운영의 강점을 살려 추진할 방침이다.
지역 교육·문화기관과의 협력 역시 강화된다. 행복진흥원은 공동 행사나 외부 공모사업을 확대해 사업비 부담을 낮추고, 프로그램 전문성도 함께 높이겠다는 전략이다. 이를 통해 대구 지역 문화 생태계 활성화와 공공 서비스 품질 향상을 동시에 노린다.
배기철 이사장은 “이번 운영 전환은 공공성 강화와 운영 안정화가 최우선 목표”라며 “대구 시민을 위한 복지 서비스 품질 향상을 위해 소임을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Facilities and environmental management will also be meticulously maintained. Outdoor landscaping maintenance will be increased from twice to four times a year, and additional funding will be secured to ensure stable facility improvements and environmental maintenance. Long-term facility maintenance and environmental improvements will also be pursued, leveraging the strengths of public management.
Cooperation with local educational and cultural institutions will also be strengthened. The Happiness Promotion Agency's strategy is to reduce operating costs and enhance program expertise by expanding joint events and externally-sponsored projects. Through these efforts, the agency aims to simultaneously revitalize the Daegu region's cultural ecosystem and improve the quality of public services.
