[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시 상공계와 시민들이 4일 김해시청 브리핑룸에서 부전-마산복선전철의 연내 조기 개통을 강력 촉구했다.
부전-마산복선전철은 국가 일반철도로서 부산 부전역에서 김해 장유역을 거쳐 창원 마산역까지 약 51㎞를 연결하는 민간투자시설사업이다.
지난 2014년 4월에 착공해 2021년 2월 준공 목표로 추진하던 중 2020년 3월 낙동강 하저터널(삼락생태공원 하부 인근) 공사 과정에서 지반침하 사고가 발생했다.
수차례 공사기간 연장으로 2025년 하반기에 복구공사를 완료하고 공정률 99%에 도달했다.
그러나 정부는 시행사와 피난연결통로를 두고 입장 차이를 해소하지 못하고 있는 상황으로 지난해 12월 민간투자시설사업 실시계획 변경 고시를 통해 공사 기간을 올 12월까지로 1년 더 연장했다.
지난해 국정감사에서 정부가 설명한 오는 6월 개통이 또 다시 지연된 것이다.
철도망 개통 시 부전-마산 간 운행시간이 90분에서 30~40분대로 단축되는데 부산시, 창원시 간 이동량이 많은 김해시민 입장에서는 출퇴근 교통난 해소와 이동시간 단축이라는 실질적 혜택이 5년째 무산된 셈이다.
또 2019년 건축공사가 완료된 장유역이 방치되고 있어, 철도 개통 기대감으로 인접 지역에 입점한 소상공인들이 철수하고 있는 상황이다.
장유지역 자원을 활용해 관광지 등으로 지역을 발전시키려는 주민들의 계획들도 답보상태이다.
이에 김해상공회의소, 장유지역 주민들은 정부의 책임 있는 결단으로 부전-마산 복선전철의 연내 조기 개통을 강력하게 요청하고 있다. 김해시는 경남도, 창원시와 공동대응하고 있다.
장유지역 주민들은 “일상에서 직접적인 불편을 겪고 있고, 더 이상 기다리기만 할 수 없어 시민의 목소리를 직접 내게 됐다. 매번 1년 단위로 연장되고 있는 부전-마산복선전철의 개통을 수년째 기다려 온 만큼 정부도 국가철도망 구축의 취지에 맞게 이제는 국가 균형발전의 약속을 이행할 때”라고 호소했다.
노은식 김해상의 회장은 “김해시민의 이동 편의를 높이는 것은 물론 물류비 완화, 부산·창원 인근 도시 근로자 통근 여건 개선, 기업투자 불확실성 해소 등 지역 기업의 경쟁력을 강화하고 동남권 경제 공동체를 완성하는 중요한 사업인 부전-마산복선전철의 조속한 개통이 필요하다”고 강조했다.
