<브레이크 뉴스 가평=이용하 기자> 가평군이 2026년 한 해 동안 군민들과 함께 읽고 토론할 '올해의 책'으로 루리 작가의 『긴긴밤』과 노벨문학상 수상자인 한강 작가의 『소년이 온다』를 최종 선정했다.
가평군도서관은 군민의 독서 문화 확산과 책 읽는 도시 조성을 위해 올해의 책 두 권을 확정했다고 6일 밝혔다.
이번 선정 과정은 그 어느 때보다 치열하고 공정하게 진행됐다. 도서관 측은 먼저 군민들로부터 총 500여 권의 도서를 추천받았으며, 이 중 선정 기준에 부합하는 15권을 1차 후보로 추렸다. 이후 군민 선호도 조사와 도서관운영위원회의 엄격한 심의를 거쳐 어린이 부문과 청소년·일반 부문에서 각각 1권씩, 최종 2권을 선정했다.
어린이 부문 선정 도서인 루리 작가의 『긴긴밤』은 세상에 마지막 하나 남은 흰바위 코뿔소 '노든'과 버려진 알에서 태어난 어린 펭귄의 여정을 그린 작품이다. 서로 다른 존재가 긴긴밤을 함께 견디며 바다를 찾아가는 과정은 독자들에게 깊은 울림과 감동을 선사한다.
