대구지하철 화재참사 23주기… ‘2·18 대구시민안전주간’ 운영

재단법인 2·18안전문화재단(이사장 직무대행 이동우)은 오는 2월 11일(수)부터 18일(수)까지 대구시민안전테마파크와 대구지하철 중앙로역 지하 2층 ‘기억공간’ 일원에서 시민안전주간 행사를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

먼저 중앙로역 지하 2층 ‘기억공간’에는 추모벽과 헌화 공간이 마련돼 시민과 유가족들이 희생자를 추모하고 추모의 글을 남길 수 있도록 운영된다. 재단은 시민안전주간을 통해 일상 속 안전의 중요성을 되새기고, 다시는 같은 비극이 반복되지 않도록 시민들과 함께 성찰과 다짐의 시간을 나눈다는 계획이다.

또한 대구지하철 화재참사 유가족들은 2월 11일 오후 3시, 무연고 희생자 6명을 추모하기 위해 대구시립묘지를 방문해 참배할 예정이다.

23주기 추모식은 참사 발생 시각인 2월 18일(수) 오전 9시 53분에 대구시 동구 팔공산에 위치한 대구시민안전테마파크 추모탑 앞 광장에서 열린다. 추모식에는 정당 관계자와 유가족 등이 참석해 추도사와 추모공연, 헌화 등의 순으로 진행될 예정이다.

2·18안전문화재단은 대구지하철 화재참사 이후 안전사고에 대한 경각심을 높이고 재발 방지를 위해 설립된 단체로, 재단 관계자는 “이번 대구시민안전주간을 계기로 지역사회 전반에 안전문화가 확산되는 계기가 되기를 바란다”고 전했다.

To mark the 23rd anniversary of the Daegu Subway Fire Disaster, the “February 18 Daegu Citizen Safety Week” will be held for eight days from February 11th to 18th.

The February 18 Safety Culture Foundation (Acting Chairman Lee Dong-woo) announced that it will host Citizen Safety Week events from Wednesday, February 11th to Wednesday, February 18th, at the Daegu Citizen Safety Theme Park and the “Memory Space” on the second basement level of Jungangno Station.

The “Memory Space” on the second basement level of Jungangno Station will feature a memorial wall and a space for citizens and bereaved families to pay tribute to the victims and leave messages of remembrance. Through Citizen Safety Week, the foundation plans to remind citizens of the importance of safety in their daily lives and share a time of reflection and commitment with them to ensure that similar tragedies never happen again.

Furthermore, bereaved families of the Daegu subway fire will visit the Daegu City Cemetery at 3:00 PM on February 11th to pay their respects to the six unclaimed victims.

The 23rd anniversary memorial service will be held at 9:53 AM on Wednesday, February 18th, the exact time of the disaster, in the plaza in front of the memorial tower at the Daegu Citizen Safety Theme Park located on Palgongsan Mountain in Dong-gu, Daegu. The service will be attended by political party officials and bereaved families and will include eulogies, a memorial performance, and a floral tribute.

The 2/18 Safety Culture Foundation is an organization established after the Daegu subway fire disaster to raise awareness of safety accidents and prevent recurrence. A foundation official said, “We hope that this Daegu Citizen Safety Week will serve as an opportunity to spread safety culture throughout the community.”
