남동구에 따르면, 구는 지난해 기후에너지환경부에서 공모사업으로 추진했던 환경오염사고 방재 장비함 구축 지원 대상 지자체로 선정됨에 따라 방재함 설치를 진행했다.
컨테이너 형태의 방재함 내부에는 보호복, 흡착제, 중화제 등 다양한 방재 물품이 비치되어 있어, 남동산단에 산재되어 있는 660여 개의 화학물질 취급 사업장의 사고 발생 시 초기 대응에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
또한, 남동구는 정기적인 훈련을 통해 신속한 상황전파 및 확산 방지 등에 대한 직원들의 현장 대응능력을 강화해 나가고 있다.
