[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 국립창원대학교가 창원국가산단의 인력난 해소와 지역 소멸 위기 극복을 위해 국립 한국방송통신대학교와 손을 잡았다. 외국인 유학생이 한국 사회와 산업 현장에 안정적으로 뿌리내릴 수 있도록 돕는 ‘글로벌 교육 생태계’ 구축에 나선 것이다.
국립창원대는 9일, 한국방송통신대학교와 외국인 학생 유치 확대 및 체계적 교육 지원을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이번 협약은 '공간적 제약'이 없는 방송대의 원격 교육 노하우와 '현장 중심'의 창원대 교육 역량을 결합한 국립대 간 협력 모델로 주목받고 있다.
이번 협약의 가장 큰 특징은 외국인 학생들을 위한 ‘단계적 진학 및 편입 연계’ 시스템이다. 해외 현지에서 방송대의 온라인 콘텐츠를 통해 한국어와 기초 학문을 먼저 익힌 외국인 학생들이, 이후 국립창원대로 진학하거나 편입해 창원국가산단과 연계된 고도의 실무 교육을 받는 구조다.
