[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 9일 옛 성북동행정복지센터에서 뉴실버세대를 위한 Re-Born센터 설치사업 착공식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.
이날 착공식은 조규일 진주시장을 비롯해 시·도의원과 유관기관·단체장, 인근 지역 주민들이 참석해 센터 조성을 축하했다.
Re-Born센터는 초고령사회 진입에 대응해 은퇴 후에도 전문성과 활동 의지가 높은 5060 신중년 세대의 특성을 반영해 조성된다.
센터는 연면적 749.23㎡, 지상 4층 규모로 기존 건물을 리모델링해 교육과 소통, 문화활동이 가능한 공간으로 탈바꿈한다.
주요 시설은 다목적실과 디지털·교육실, 동아리·커뮤니티 활동실, 북카페 등이 마련돼 신중년의 역량 강화와 사회참여를 지원한다.
또 센터는 재취업과 창업을 위한 일자리 발굴·연계와 공유사무실 운영 등 수요자 중심의 맞춤형 지원도 함께 추진된다.
시는 센터 완공 시 은퇴 인력의 사회 재참여를 통해 지역경제 활성화와 세대 간 소통 확대에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
