시민감사관은 위법·부당한 행정 처리에 대한 제보와 불합리한 제도 개선 건의 등을 통해 시정 감시 기능을 수행하는 '시민 파수꾼' 역할을 맡고 있다.

이날 회의에는 위촉된 시민감사관들이 참석해 지난해 접수된 제보 사항의 처리 결과를 공유하고, 더 나은 원주를 만들기 위한 실질적인 감사 활동 방안에 대해 심도 있는 의견을 나눴다.
이병하 원주시 감사관은 “시민감사관은 공정하고 투명한 원주시를 만드는 핵심 파트너”라며 “시민들의 날카로운 지적과 따뜻한 제언이 행정에 스며들 수 있도록 활동을 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 원주시는 앞으로도 시민감사관의 전문성을 강화하고 소통 창구를 확대하여 시민 권익 보호와 신뢰받는 청렴 행정을 구현해 나갈 방침이다.
