현충원 참배로 새해 의지 다져… ‘충청권 상생’ 다짐

충청광역연합의회가 9일 국립대전현충원 참배를 시작으로 제8회 임시회를 개회하며 5일간의 의정 일정에 돌입했다.
올해 첫 회기인 만큼 한 해의 정책 방향을 설정하고, 최근 급물살을 타고 있는 대전·충남 행정통합 등 굵직한 지역 현안에 대한 의회 차원의 대응 전략을 점검하는 자리가 될 전망이다.
9일 오전, 노금식 의장을 비롯한 16명의 연합의회 의원들과 간부 공무원들은 대전 유성구 국립대전현충원을 찾아 순국선열과 호국영령 앞에 고개를 숙였다.
참석자들은 현충탑 헌화와 분향을 통해 나라를 위한 희생정신을 기리는 한편, 충청권의 공동 번영과 주민 복리 증진을 위해 의정 역량을 집중하겠다는 각오를 다졌다.
이날 제1차 본회의를 시작으로 막을 올린 이번 임시회는 오는 13일까지 총 5일간 진행된다.

연합의회는 이번 회기 동안 충청광역연합으로부터 ‘2026년도 주요업무계획’을 보고받고, 예산결산특별위원회 및 윤리특별위원회 위원 선임 등 의회 운영의 기틀을 마련하는 각종 안건을 심의한다.
집행부가 수립한 한 해 사업들이 실효성 있게 계획되었는지, 대내외적인 경제 불확실성 속에서 지역 경제 활성화를 위한 대안이 충분히 반영되었는지 등을 꼼꼼히 따져볼 계획이다.
노금식 의장은 개회사를 통해 지방의회의 ‘책임 의정’을 강조했다. 특히 최근 지역 사회의 뜨거운 감자인 대전·충남 행정통합 논의를 직접 언급하며 의회의 적극적인 개입 의사를 분명히 했다.
노 의장은 “행정통합은 단순히 두 지자체를 합치는 문제를 넘어 충청권 전체의 지형을 바꿀 중대 사안”이라며, “특정 지역의 이해관계를 넘어 충청권 전체의 미래 경쟁력을 고려해 의회 차원에서 책임감 있게 논의를 이끌어 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
