[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 하동 원도심에 새로운 랜드마크가 문을 열었다. 하동군은 지난 6일 하동읍 읍내리 458번지 일원에서 복합 커뮤니티 공간인 ‘하동 도시재생 아카이브센터’ 개관식을 개최했다.
‘하동 도시재생 아카이브센터’는 지난 2020년 11월 국토교통부 공모에 선정된 ‘동광마을 도시재생사업’의 핵심 거점 시설이다.
군은 2021년부터 △동광 공동채 임대주택 △동광 나눔채 △집수리 지원 △골목길 개선 등 도심 활성화를 위한 다양한 사업을 추진해 왔으며, 아카이브센터는 그 정점에 있는 시설이다.
지난 2023년 12월 착공해 약 2년 만에 완공된 이 센터는 총사업비 35억여 원(도시재생 사업비 25억, 자활기금 및 군비 10억)이 투입됐다.
연면적 833.63㎡에 지상 3층 규모로 건립되었으며, 도시재생의 역사를 기록하고 취약계층의 자활을 지원하며, 주민 공동체를 활성화하는 복합 기능을 수행한다.
시설 운영은 하동지역자활센터가 맡는다. 센터는 앞으로 자활근로 참여자를 위한 직무·소양 교육은 물론, 지역 주민을 대상으로 한 체험활동과 역량 강화 교육 등 다양한 프로그램을 제공하여, 단순한 쉼터를 넘어 지역 내 일자리를 창출하고 주민과 자활 참여자가 어우러지는 상생의 공간으로 가꿔나갈 계획이다.
군 관계자는 “우리는 도시재생이라는 ‘하드웨어’에 자활이라는 따뜻한 ‘복지 소프트웨어’를 결합했다”며, “이곳이 일자리를 만들고 지역 경제를 돌리는 선순환 구조의 모범답안이자, 주민들이 언제든 모여 이야기꽃을 피우는 소통의 장이 될 것이라 확신한다”고 전했다.
한편, 이날 개관식에서는 하승철 군수와 김혜수 군의원이 하동지역자활센터 가족들로부터 감사패를 받아 훈훈함을 더했다.
