태백시문화재단은 지난 1월 31일부터 2월 8일까지 9일간 태백산국립공원 일원에서 열린 ‘제33회 태백산 눈축제’가 수많은 관광객의 호응 속에 성황리에 마무리됐다고 10일 밝혔다.

올해 축제는 ‘2026 RE⧗AL(Remember, Reply, Relax) 태백산 눈축제’라는 슬로건 아래, 단순히 눈으로만 보는 축제를 넘어 관광객들이 직접 체험하고 머물다 갈 수 있는 체류형 축제로의 변신을 시도해 합격점을 받았다.
축제의 백미인 대형 눈 조각 전시는 태백의 지역색과 K-컬처를 입혀 완성도를 높였다. 특히 당골광장에는 2026년 병오년(丙午年)을 상징하는 거대한 ‘붉은 말’ 게이트와 한국의 문화유산을 주제로 한 작품들이 설치돼 방문객들의 포토존으로 큰 인기를 끌었다.

또한, 눈과 얼음으로 만든 이색 공간인 ‘이글루 카페테리아’와 밤 10시까지 이어진 야간 개장은 태백의 밤 정취를 즐기려는 관광객들의 발길을 붙잡았다.
가족 단위 방문객을 위한 배려도 돋보였다. 기존보다 길이를 늘려 짜릿함을 더한 대형 눈썰매장과 실내 키즈 놀이터, 추억의 군밤 굽기 체험 등 남녀노소 누구나 즐길 수 있는 프로그램들이 축제장 곳곳에 활기를 불어넣었다.

태백시문화재단 관계자는 “올해 축제는 콘텐츠의 질적 향상과 체류형 프로그램 개발에 주력했다”며 “앞으로도 대한민국 최고 겨울 축제의 명성을 이어갈 수 있도록 태백만의 차별화된 관광 콘텐츠를 지속적으로 발굴하겠다”고 말했다.
