[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 해양레저 복합시설인 통영 마리나비즈센터가 완공되면서 이후 본격적인 운영을 통해 해양레저산업의 중심지로 도약한다.
통영시는 지난 9일 천영기 통영시장, 김명주 경상남도 경제부지사, 배도수 통영시의회 의장 및 통영시의회 의원, 기관단체장, 지역 주민 등 약 150여 명이 참석한 가운데 통영 마리나비즈센터 준공식을 가졌다.
통영 마리나비즈센터는 해양레저 수요가 급격히 늘어나는 시대적 흐름에 맞춰 요트 계류장, 해양레저 지원시설, 비즈니스 공간 등을 갖춘 해양레저 복합시설로 조성됐으며, 지역경제 활성화와 해양레저산업 발전을 목표로 출범했다.

2019년부터 7년에 걸쳐 추진된 이 사업은 해양수산부 공모사업으로 선정돼 총 190억 원의 국비와 지방비가 투입됐으며, 19,678㎡ 규모의 부지에 운영지원동(지상 3층, 1,733㎡)과 해상계류시설 20선석 및 육상계류시설 14선석, 슬립웨이와 도크 시설 등이 마련됐다.
통영 마리나비즈센터는 해양레저기구의 전시와 판매, 수리와 관리, 교육과 관광 프로그램까지 원스톱으로 지원하며, 한국해양교통안전공단의 스마트선박안전지원센터와 연계해 기존의 공동수리시설을 보완하며 이를 통해 통영은 해양관광과 마리나 산업의 중심지로 한 단계 도약할 것으로 기대된다.
통영시는 마리나비즈센터를 중심으로 요트관광 활성화, 섬별 특화 관광상품 개발, 해양레저 교육·체험 프로그램 확대 등을 추진해 ‘복합해양레저관광도시’의 위상을 더욱 강화할 예정이다.
