충청남도가 도내에서 교통량이 가장 밀집된 천안·아산·당진 등 북부권역의 도로 관리 체계를 현장 중심으로 대폭 강화하며 행정 혁신에 나섰다.
충남도 건설본부는 11일 아산시 권곡동에 마련된 북부사무소에서 김태흠 지사와 천안·아산·당진 시장, 지역 주민 등 200여 명이 참석한 가운데 개청식을 열고 본격적인 업무 시작을 알렸다.
이번 북부사무소 신설은 인구 증가와 물류 수요 급증에 따라 발생하는 도로 행정 수요에 선제적으로 대응하고, 무엇보다 긴급 상황 시 대응 속도를 높여 도민의 안전을 지키겠다는 의지가 반영된 결과다.
그동안 충남의 산업과 경제를 이끄는 북부권은 도내 최고 수준의 교통량과 사고 발생량을 기록해 왔음에도 불구하고, 효율적인 도로 관리에 물리적 한계가 있다는 지적을 받아왔다.
