<브레이크 뉴스 의정부=이용하 기자> 의정부시는 지난 10일 시청 회룡홀에서 시니어위원회 위원 및 관계 공무원 등 30여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘의정부시 시니어위원회 정기 회의’를 개최하고 초고령사회 대응을 위한 정책 논의를 가졌다고 밝혔다.
지난 2022년 7월 출범한 ‘의정부시 시니어위원회’는 시정 주요 정책에 어르신들의 풍부한 지혜와 현장 경험을 반영하기 위해 구성된 기구로, 매년 정기적인 소통의 장을 마련해 오고 있다.

이날 회의에서는 ▲2026년도 노인복지 주요 사업 보고 ▲신규 노인복지 정책 제안 발표 등이 진행됐다. 참석자들은 실제 사업 추진 시 예상되는 문제점을 점검하고, 어르신들의 사회 참여와 건강, 여가 생활을 실질적으로 개선할 수 있는 방안에 대해 심도 있는 의견을 나눴다.
현재 의정부시는 65세 이상 노인 인구가 9만 3,707명으로 전체 인구의 20.3%를 차지하며 이미 초고령사회에 진입한 상태다. 이에 시는 시니어위원회를 통해 노인 일자리, 디지털 범죄 예방, 건강 증진 등 다양한 분야의 아이디어를 수렴해 시정에 적극 녹여내고 있다.
실제로 그동안 위원회 제안을 통해 ▲폐지 수집 어르신 지원 ▲거동 불편자를 위한 근육운동 프로그램 ▲노인 대상 디지털 범죄 대응 교육 등 총 7개 사업이 실제 정책으로 연결되는 성과를 거두기도 했다.
