【브레이크뉴스 고령】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 정희용 의원(경북 고령·성주·칠곡)이 10일 국회에서 중소벤처기업부 관계자를 만나 고령군을 ‘(가칭)대가야 역사문화특구’로 지정하는 방안을 논의한 것으로 나타났다.
정 의원은 이날 면담에서 “고령군은 대가야의 왕도라는 역사·문화적 가치를 지닌 지역”이라며, 이 자원을 산업과 관광으로 확장하기 위한 지역특화발전특구 지정의 필요성을 강조했다. 또한 특구 지정을 통한 체계적인 육성 방안을 제안했다. 중기부 측은 특구계획 수립과 신청 등 관련 절차 전반에 대해 고령군과 협의하며 적극 지원하겠다는 뜻을 전했다.
고령군은 지난해 지산동 고분군이 유네스코 세계유산에 등재되고, 오는 2025년에는 대가야 고도 지정이 예정되는 등 역사문화 도시로서의 위상이 크게 높아진 상황이다. 정 의원은 이러한 흐름이 지역경제 활성화로 이어지기 위해서는 고령의 역사자원을 바탕으로 한 특화 전략 수립이 중요하다고 설명했다.
정 의원은 “고령군이 대가야 왕도의 명성에 걸맞게 대한민국을 대표하는 역사문화도시로 성장하려면 정부와 지자체의 긴밀한 협력이 필요하다”며 “특구 지정을 통해 문화관광과 연관 산업이 함께 성장할 수 있는 기반을 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 지역특화발전특구 제도는 지역 여건에 맞게 규제 특례를 적용해 특화사업을 추진할 수 있도록 한 것으로 현재 전국적으로 170여 개 특구가 운영 중이다.

Rep. Jeong stated, "For Goryeong County to grow into a historical and cultural city representing South Korea, living up to its reputation as the capital of Daegaya, close cooperation between the central and local governments is necessary." He added, "Through the designation of special zones, we will lay the foundation for the simultaneous growth of cultural tourism and related industries."
Meanwhile, the Regional Specialized Development Special Zone system allows for the promotion of specialized projects by applying regulatory exceptions tailored to local conditions. Currently, approximately 170 special zones are in operation nationwide.
