고양특례시 대화도서관이 노후 공공건축물의 에너지 효율 개선을 위해 추진한 ‘그린리모델링 환경개선사업’을 완료하고 오는 27일 재개관한다.

2008년 개관한 대화도서관은 준공 후 18년이 경과한 노후 공공건축물로, 국토교통부가 주관한 ‘2023년 공공건축물 그린리모델링 공모사업’에 선정되면서 본격적인 환경개선에 나섰다.
‘공공건축물 그린리모델링 공모사업’은 준공 후 10년 이상 지난 공공건축물의 에너지 성능을 높이고 생활환경을 개선하기 위해 추진되는 사업으로, 대화도서관은 에너지 절감과 기후변화 대응을 위한 환경개선 공사를 위해 지난해 6월부터 휴관에 들어갔다.
이번 사업에는 국도비 27억 원을 포함해 총 34억 원의 예산이 투입됐으며, 지하 1층, 지상 4층, 연면적 3,902㎡ 규모의 도서관 전반에 대한 환경개선이 이뤄졌다.
창호 및 외벽 마감재 교체와 내·외벽 단열 보강, 고효율 냉·난방기 추가 설치 등을 통해 건축물의 에너지 성능을 대폭 향상시켰으며, 사계절 내내 쾌적한 이용 환경을 갖춘 친환경 공공도서관으로 새롭게 탈바꿈했다.
특히 이번 리모델링은 ‘친환경 에너지 효율화’와 ‘이용자 중심 공간 조성’에 중점을 두고 추진됐으며, 고성능 창호와 최신 냉난방 시스템을 도입해 에너지 소비를 줄이는 한편 내부 공간을 재배치해 보다 효율적이고 쾌적한 독서 환경을 조성했다.
시는 이번 그린리모델링 사업을 통해 탄소중립 사회 실현을 위한 ESG 행정을 실천함과 동시에 시민들에게 한층 향상된 독서문화 공간을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
