이번 방문은 추 의원이 대구시장 출마를 선언한 이후 일곱 번째로 이뤄진 노인복지관 방문이다.
추 의원은 대구 지역 내 노인복지관을 순차적으로 돌며 시설 운영 실태와 교육, 여가 프로그램 등 복지 현장을 꼼꼼히 살피는 행보를 이어가고 있다.
이날도 복지관의 노래교실 시간에 직접 참여해 어르신들과 함께 노래를 부르며 소통하는 등 현장 분위기를 가까이에서 느낄 수 있었다.
추 의원은 “출마를 선언한 뒤 시간 날 때마다 복지관을 찾아 어르신들의 목소리를 직접 듣고 있다”며 “어르신 복지 증진과 삶의 질 향상을 최우선 과제로 삼아 현장의 생생한 의견을 정책에 적극 반영하겠다”고 밝혔다.
과거 경제부총리와 기획재정부 장관을 역임한 추 의원은 재임 시절에도 노인복지관을 자주 방문해 현장과 소통해왔으며, 기초연금 및 생계급여 인상, 노인 일자리 확대 등 노후 소득 보장 강화 정책에도 힘써온 바 있다.
추 의원은 “앞으로도 정책 수혜자인 어르신들의 의견을 현장에서 직접 듣고, 사회적 약자를 위한 복지 정책을 더욱 강화해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
