이번 행사는 한국 고유 명절인 설날의 의미와 문화를 외국인 유학생들에게 소개하고, 한국 문화에 대한 이해 증진과 유학생 간 교류 확대를 위해 마련됐다.
이날 행사에서는 설 대표 음식인 떡국과 식혜 100인분이 준비됐으며, 참가 유학생들은 떡국을 함께 나누며 설날의 유래와 음식 문화에 대한 설명을 듣는 시간을 가졌다.
행사에 참여한 주마니요조프 디누르벡(우즈베키스탄·한국어교육전공) 학생은 “설날에 떡국을 먹으면 한 살 더 먹는다는 이야기를 나누며 친구들과 즐거운 시간을 보냈다”며 “가족과 떨어져 있지만 학교에서 따뜻한 명절 분위기를 느낄 수 있어 감사하다”고 소감을 전했다.
강수태 국제처장은 “외국인 유학생들이 한국 설 문화를 직접 체험하는 뜻깊은 계기가 되었길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 문화 교류 프로그램을 통해 유학생들이 안정적이고 즐거운 유학 생활을 이어갈 수 있도록 지원을 강화하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 대구대는 교육부가 발표한 ‘2025년 교육국제화역량 인증제’에서 인증대학으로 선정되며, 외국인 유학생 유치 역량과 체계적 관리 시스템을 대외적으로 인정받았다.

Daegu University Shares Tteokguk with International Students to Celebrate Seollal, Experiencing Korean Holiday Culture
Daegu University (President Park Soon-jin) hosted the "Tteokguk Sharing and Cultural Experience for International Students" event on February 13th in the International Building kitchen on the Gyeongsan Campus to celebrate Seollal.
This event introduced international students to the meaning and culture of Seollal, a traditional Korean holiday, and aimed to foster understanding of Korean culture and foster exchange among international students.
The event featured 100 servings of tteokguk and sikhye, two representative Seollal dishes. The participating international students shared tteokguk and learned about the origins of Seollal and its food culture.
Dumanyozov Dinurbek (Uzbekistan, Korean Language Education major), who participated in the event, said, "We had a great time with friends, sharing the idea that eating tteokguk on Seollal makes you a year older. I'm grateful to be able to experience the warm holiday atmosphere at school, even though I'm away from my family."
Kang Soo-tae, Director of the Office of International Affairs, said, "I hope this was a meaningful opportunity for international students to experience Korean Seollal culture firsthand." He added, "We will continue to strengthen our support through various cultural exchange programs to ensure that international students can maintain a stable and enjoyable study abroad experience."
Meanwhile, Daegu University was selected as a certified university in the "2025 Education Internationalization Capability Certification System" announced by the Ministry of Education, demonstrating its international student recruitment capabilities and systematic management system.
