오는 2월 21일(토) 오후 4시, 서울 동대문구 김희수아트센터 SPACE1에서 제6회 채수정소리단 정기연주회 ‘신년풍류(新年風流)’가 열린다. 민족의 정신이 오롯한 전통 소리의 깊은 뿌리 위에 세계로 향하는 현대적 감성을 그려낸 무대가 펼쳐진다. 판소리에서부터 가야금병창, 산조 합주, 경서도민요까지 다양한 장르가 어우러져 전통 음악의 무한한 확장을 통한 세계로의 가능성을 신명으로 보여주는 공연이다. 채수정소리단 정기연주회는 고유한 소리의 멋을 살리면서도 현대적 편성과 연출을 통하여 익숙함 속에서 새로운 감동을 메시지로 전하는 공연을 추구하였다. 과거와 현재가 만나는 이번 공연은 우리 음악이 지닌 생명력과 가능성을 함께 살필 수 있는 소중한 무대이다.
채수정소리단은 2021년 창단 이후 매년 정기 공연을 이어오면서 전통 성악의 다양한 가능성을 탐구해 왔다. 전통 판소리의 미학을 존중하면서도 현대적 해석과 연출로 관객이 고유한 전통 음악을 새롭게 만날 수 있는 방식을 치열하게 모색해 왔다. 다양한 세대와 전문 국악인과 국악을 사랑하는 비전공자가 어우러져 소중한 우리 소리의 정신과 감성을 매만지며 세계에 전하는 울림의 예술을 추구하는 소리단의 6번째 정기 공연은 특별한 무대가 많다.
가야금병창 ‘인생백년’ - 출연: 함수연. 정상희. 심윤아. 이서희. 고혜수
공연의 주요 프로그램에는 특별한 내용이 많다. 소리단의 주요한 소리꾼들이 펼칠 가야금병창 ‘인생백년’은 시대를 관통한 박록주 명창이 자신이 살아온 영욕의 세월을 뒤돌아보며 인생의 무상함을 절절히 노래한 가사 한 편을 제자 박송희 명창에게 전하여 박송희 명창이 곡을 붙여 탄생한 단가이다. 박록주, 박송희, 채수정으로 이어진 울림의 단가 ‘인생백년’을 채수정소리단 지현아 단원이 가야금병창곡으로 초연한 작품을 채수정소리단 주요한 단원들이 병창곡으로 선보이는 무대의 울림이 기대된다.

산조 합주는 각 악기의 개성이 뚜렷하게 드러나는 산조 선율을 바탕으로 이루어진 기악합주 무대이다. 독주와 합주를 넘나드는 구성 속에서 장단의 흐름과 즉흥성이 우리의 것으로 살아나는 소중한 무대이다. 다양한 전통 악기들이 서로 호흡하고 대화하듯 어우러지면서 산조가 지닌 깊은 음악성과 조상의 지혜를 품은 국악기의 다채로운 음색 속에 합주가 만들어내는 깊은 예술성과 신명을 함께 경험할 수 있는 무대이다.

민요 ‘풍년가’를 채수정소리단의 독창적인 해석으로 판소리 합창 형식을 새롭게 도입한 작품이다. 기존의 독창 중심 판소리 곡을 3성부로 나누어 각 성부가 서로 어우러지고 대비되는 입체적인 음악으로 탄생시켰다. 다수의 목소리가 만들어내는 풍부한 화성과 새로운 리듬감은 판소리 고유의 기법과 흥을 유지하면서도 표현의 면면을 확장한 것이다. 나아가 현대음악 신시사이저를 비롯한 다양한 악기 반주가 동행하면서 전통과 현대의 음악이 자연스럽게 어우러진 무대를 선보인다. 판소리의 서사성과 기운을 새로운 감각으로 재해석한 공연의 생동감이 기대된다.
경서도 민요 배치기, 빠른 배따라기 & 뱃노래, 자진 뱃노래 – 출연: 이재득. 박초현. 임지현
서도민요 배치기와 자진배따라기는 만선(滿船)을 이루고 돌아오는 신명이 담긴 민요다. 배치기는 고기를 가득 잡은 배가 항구로 돌아올 때 선원들이 노를 젓거나 닻을 올리며 배의 측면(배치기)을 두드려 소리를 내며 부르던 신명 나는 풍어 노래에서 유래하였다. 자진배따라기는 떠나는 배의 정한을 느릿한 호흡으로 노래한 배따라기(배 떠나기) 이후에 자진모리장단으로 몰아치며 부르는 노래다. 이는 만선으로 항구가 가까워지면서 설렘과 분주함이 서도 소리 특유의 떨고 꺾어 드는 음색으로 승화한 희망의 노래다.
이와 함께 경기 민요 뱃노래와 자진 뱃노래는 인생의 풍랑을 관조하는 유려한 풍류의 노래로 서도 소리의 비장미와 남도 소리의 정한과 사뭇 다른, 맑고 경쾌한 경기소리 특유의 유연함으로 삶의 고단함을 자연의 순리에 띄워 보내는 노래다. 굿거리장단의 물결을 타고 자연과 내가 하나 되는 평온한 자유를 상징하는 뱃노래에 이어지는 자진 뱃노래는 자진모리장단의 빠른 물살로 갈아타며 거친 바다를 이겨낸 생명력의 폭발과 공동체적 신명이 흥건한 민요이다. 이번 무대에서는 서도와 경기 지역 민요를 연곡 형식으로 재구성하여 서도의 담담하고 절제된 정서에서 경기 민요의 밝고 경쾌한 흥과 신명으로 이어지는 흐름을 보여준다. 이는 경서도 민요가 지닌 소중한 감성의 조화를 한 무대에서 보여주려는 것이다.
판소리 적벽가 활 쏘는 대목 – 출연: 윤상미. 이서희. 지명인. 이치현. 이세영
판소리 적벽가 중 극적인 긴장감이 절정에 이르는 가장 눈에 띄는 대목을 이르는 눈대목인 조자룡 활 쏘는 대목을 이번 공연에서는 모둠북과 신시사이저(건반) 연주를 더하여 새롭게 구성하였다. 이를 통해 전통 판소리가 지닌 서사적 긴장과 극적 에너지를 한층 강화하고 음악을 넘어 시각과 청각이 어우러지는 몰입의 감성을 중시한 것이다. 이번 기획은 전통 서사에 현대적 공연 기법을 접목하여 공연장 전체를 하나의 극적인 공간으로 재구성한다. 전통이 품은 깊은 울림이 현대적 연출을 통하여 판소리의 새로운 감상 방식을 제안하는 무대를 선보인다.

판소리 적벽가 중 새타령 대목은 적벽대전에서 패하여 죽은 조조의 군사들이 원조라는 새가 되어 조승상을 원망하는 울음을 소리로 풀어낸 대목이다. 적벽가의 눈대목 중 하나이며 다양한 새 울음의 묘사를 통해 소리꾼의 기량과 작품 속 해학과 풍자를 함께 보여준다.
남도잡가 흥타령 육자배기 - 출연진 전체
‘흥타령’과 ‘육자배기’는 남도의 정서를 대표하는 남도잡가이다. 본 무대는 단순한 노래가 아닌 이야기와 감정을 전달하는 하나의 서사적 장면으로 재구성하여 애환과 슬픈 정서를 더욱 생동감 있게 전하면서 관객과 동행하는 대중 속의 친화적인 공연을 추구하는 대표적인 무대이다.
