김인호 산림청장의 만취 운전 사고는 충격 그 자체다. 이른바 ‘국민추천제’라는 그럴싸한 이름을 앞세워, 사실상 셀프추천에 가까운 방식으로 차관급 보직에 전격 임명된 인사다. 그런 인물이 산불 비상 시기에 만취 상태로 운전대를 잡았다는 사실은 참으로 낯 뜨겁고 추하다. 전국에서 22건의 산불이 잇따르고 국가소방동원령까지 내려진 엄중한 상황이었다. 그 와중에 산림 행정의 최고 책임자가 음주운전으로 마을버스와 승용차를 추돌했다. 자칫하면 인명 피해로 이어질 뻔한 아찔한 사고였다.
