【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=정해용 전 대구시 경제부시장이 동구청장 예비후보로 공식 등록하며 본격적인 선거전에 돌입했다.
정 예비후보는 지난 20일 동구청장 예비후보 등록을 마친 뒤, 21일 첫 공식 일정으로 망우당공원을 찾아 참배와 봉사 활동을 펼쳤다.
그는 임진왜란 당시 의병장이었던 곽재우 장군 동상 앞에서 헌화하고 참배하며 “위기 앞에서도 물러서지 않았던 곽재우 장군의 리더십처럼 동구의 확실한 변화를 반드시 이끌겠다”고 다짐했다.
참배를 마친 후에는 사회복지회 행복한 동행이 주관한 무료급식 봉사에 참여했다. 정 예비후보는 노숙인과 어르신들에게 직접 식사를 나누며 자원봉사자들과 현장의 애로사항을 들었고, 복지 사각지대 해소 방안에 대해 의견도 주고받았다.
그는 “현장에서 직접 보고 듣는 것이 정책의 출발점”이라며 “복지와 주거, 일자리 문제를 책상 위가 아닌 현장에서 해결하겠다”고 강조했다.
정 예비후보는 동구에서 제5·6대 대구시의원을 지냈고, 대구시 정무특보와 경제부시장을 역임했다. 또 국민의힘 혁신위원으로도 활동하는 등 중앙과 지방 행정 경험을 강점으로 내세우고 있다.
정치권에서는 이번 첫 공식 일정이 역사적 상징성과 복지 현장을 동시에 부각한 행보라는 점에 주목하고 있다.
