세종시 연동면 연동중학교 폐교 부지를 소방 훈련장과 시민 안전 교육 공간으로 활용하자는 실효성 있는 방안이 제시됐다.
홍순식 세종시장 예비후보는 이 부지를 세종시민 전체의 재난대응 거점으로 재탄생시키면 폐교의 상실감을 새로운 희망으로 바꿀 수 있다고 주장했다.
